Silvio Nihei has a B.Sc. in Biology Sciences from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (1997), PhD in Entomology from the Universidade Federal do Paraná (2004), and Postdoc at the Museu de Zoologia, Universidade de São Paulo (2005-06).

 

He is now Professor at the Department of Zoology, Institute of Biosciences, Universidade de São Paulo since 2007, where he teaches undergraduate courses in Invertebrate Zoology, Entomology, and Diversification and Biogeography of Neotropical Biota, and graduate courses in Systematics of Diptera, and Historical Biogeography.

 

He coordinates the laboratory of Systematics and Biogeography of Insects developing research projects and supervising students in taxonomy, phylogeny and biogeography of Diptera and Orthoptera.

 

He acted as associate editor of Revista Brasileira de Entomologia from 2009-2013, and now he is associate editor of Zootaxa since 2010. Research fundings from FAPESP and CNPq.
