Márcia S. Couri has a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Gama Filho (1978), MSc in Biological Sciences (Zoology) from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1983), PhD in Veterinary Parasitology from the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (1989), postdoctoral researches developed at The Natural History Museum, London (1997), California Academy of Sciences, California (2005) and Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris (2009) and senior stage at the National Museum, Bloemfontein, South Africa (2012).

 

She is now Full Professor at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Museu Nacional. She has been a reviewer for several scientific journals from Brazil and from other countries.

 

Since 2010 she is associate editor of Revista Brasileira de Entomologia. She develops research projects in Diptera and supervise students in taxonomy, systematics and phylogeny.

 

She published over 200 scientific articles. Since 2006 is Research Associate of the Department of Entomology of the California Academy of Sciences and member of the International Council of Dipterology from 2006-2014. Scientific Productivity fellowship from CNPq.
