José Albertino Rafael has a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Estadual de Maringá, Paraná (1977), MSc in Biological Sciences, Entomology at Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (1979), PhD in Biological Sciences, Entomology, Universidade Federal do Paraná, Curitiba (1986), postdoctoral researches developed at Canadian National Collection of Insects, Ottawa from 1997 to 1999 and at Universidade Federal do Paraná from 2007 to 2009.

 

Researcher at Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia since 1979. Professor and advisor at INPA Entomology Graduate Program since 1986.

 

Supervisor of students mainly in taxonomy, systematics, phylogeny and forensic entomology. Published over 170 articles in scientific magazines or chapters of books. Projects resources from CNPq, CAPES and FAPEAM. Main editor of the book “The Insects of Brazil: diversity and taxonomy”, published by Holos in 2012. Scientific Productivity fellowship from CNPq. Member of CNPq Assessory Committee in Zoology since 2010.
