Carlos E. Lamas has a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Gama Filho (1993), MSc in Biological Sciences (Zoology) from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1996), PhD in Biological Sciences (Zoology) at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (2002) and postdoctoral studies at the Museu Nacional of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2004).

 

He is currently Associate Professor at the Universidade de São Paulo, working at the Museu de Zoologia as curator of the Diptera collection. He supervises graduate (masters and doctoral) and undergraduate students. He has research in Zoology with emphasis in Entomology (Taxonomy of Recent Groups), mainly in systematics and taxonomy of Diptera, the area of ​​knowledge of most of his publications.

 

He had three book chapters and 56 articles published in national and international scientific journals. He is the Chief Editor of the publications of the Museu de Zoologia of the Universidade de São Paulo (Papéis Avulsos de Zoologia and Arquivos de Zoologia); acts as a reviewer of about 20 scientific journals. From 2006 to 2010 was Chief of Invertebrate Division and from 2010 to 2013 was Director of the Scientific Division of the Museu de Zoologia. He is currently the Vice-Director of the Museu de Zoologia. Scientific Productivity fellowship from CNPq.
